Electric Vehicle Safety Seminar
at Charlotte Motor
Saturday, October 18th, 2023
Charlotte Motor Speedway
, Charlotte, NC

Since the late 1800s, where there have been cars, there have been people wanting to race cars. More than a century later, electric vehicles are becoming increasingly commonplace on our streets. Naturally, electric vehicle racing is following close behind. Many advancements in motorsports safety have come about from lessons learned over the years. And most recently, we have seen the safety issues associated with electric vehicles on the streets. Today the motorsports industry is in a perfect position to prepare for those issues on track!

Racing Goes Safer is proud to have partnered with the North Carolina Battery Complexity, Autonomous Vehicle and Electrification Research Center (BATT CAVE) at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to bring you the next installation of our Electric Vehicle Safety Series! Read the full seminar recap. If you were able to attend please leave us a review!

Electric Vehicle Safety Seminar
at the Acura Grand Prix of
Long Beach with Eric Huhn
Special Guest: Jacky Ickx

Saturday, April 15th, 2023
9am- 11am
Long Beach Convention Center, Rooms 203 A,B&C

This year at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, we will address a topic of growing importance, Electric Vehicle Racing Safety, at our annual Stand 21, Racing Goes Safer seminar on Saturday, April 15th , 2023.

This topic should be of interest to those at the track who inspect race vehicles and provide
safety response during competition, as well as drivers and crew with these vehicles. With more EVs and electric hybrids showing up at track days and competition events, now is the time to learn more about the special precautions that need to be taken as routine, or when something goes wrong with this new technology.

We have engaged Eric Huhn of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to speak at our
Long Beach safety seminar. Eric will be covering the basics of working around high voltage and amperage hardware, procedures to follow, precautions around production EVs like Teslas, preventing battery fires, and in the worst case, addressing runaway battery fires. He will cover what we know at this point in this emerging area, and what has been learned by the FIA in Formula E.
